In jedem Jahr wird durch den Deutschen Fußballbund der DFB-Ehrenamtspreis sowie die Aktion Junges Ehrenamt in allen Kreis- und Stadtfachverbänden zur Würdigung der ehrenamtlichen Leistungen ausgeschrieben. Kreissieger im Jahr 2025 sind Jörg Stengler von der SG Blau-Weiß Bad Kösen und Paula Lehwald vom FC RSK Freyburg. Der KFV Fußball Burgenland zeichnete beide am 7. Im Rahmen der DFB Aktion Ehrenamt sind der „DFB-Ehrenamtspreis“ und der „Fußballheld“ die zwei öffentlichkeitswirksamsten Auszeichnungen.
